Study in Uzbekistan from Pakistan

Most pages about MBBS in Uzbekistan open with how affordable it is. We are going to open somewhere else, because the price is not the thing that decides whether this works out for you.

A medical degree is only worth what you can do with it. For a Pakistani student who intends to come home and practise, that means three separate gates, all of which must be cleared:

1. A PMDC No Objection Certificate, obtained before you leave Pakistan.
2. A university with appropriate accreditation — WFME recognition is the benchmark to check, not a WHO directory listing.
3. Passing Pakistan's equivalence and licensing examinations when you return.

Miss the first and you may hold a degree you cannot register. Miss the third and you hold a degree you cannot use. Neither has a workaround, and neither is fixed by paying anyone a fee.

A large proportion of foreign-qualified graduates do not pass Pakistan's licensing examinations at the first attempt. That is the single most important number on this page, and it is the one you will not find in a brochure.

What Uzbekistan genuinely offers

With that said, the appeal is real and we are not here to talk you out of something that fits.

Tuition of USD 3,500 to USD 6,000 a year and living costs around USD 200 a month put a six-year medical degree within reach of families who cannot fund a Pakistani private medical college. Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Andijan and Fergana host long-established medical institutes. Flights are short, the cultural distance is small, and there is an established Pakistani student community.

For a student who missed a Pakistani seat by a narrow margin, has a valid MDCAT result, and is prepared to work towards the licensing exam from first year, this can be a sound decision.

What it costs, fully loaded

• Tuition: USD 3,500 – 6,000 per year, so roughly USD 21,000 – 36,000 over six years
• Hostel and food: about USD 150 – 250 per month
• Travel: two to four flights a year, plus visa costs
• On return: equivalence and licensing exam fees, registration, and realistically a period of dedicated preparation

Budget USD 32,000 – 54,000 for the degree itself, and treat the exam preparation after it as part of the plan rather than an afterthought.

Structure of the degree

Six years: typically five years of academic and pre-clinical study followed by a one-year internship. English-medium streams exist at several universities, but you should get that confirmed in writing for your specific cohort, and expect to pick up functional Uzbek or Russian for clinical rotations regardless of the language of lectures.

How we handle Uzbekistan differently

We will check the current PMDC position with you, in front of you, on the day you apply — not quote you a category from a list that was accurate two years ago.

We will not place a student who does not have a valid MDCAT result and a realistic route to a NOC. There is commission available in doing that. We are not going to take it, because the student pays for it six years later and we would rather have the referral than the fee.

If the honest answer is that you should retake MDCAT, or consider allied health, dentistry, or a non-medical route in one of our other destinations, that is the advice you will get at the profile stage.
